Brett Taylor paints, draws, and sculpts from his studio at Pikowai Beach, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.
His art career began with portrait commissions for a decade. The development of his own bronze casting foundry gave room for a new level of insight to his much loved figures.
This led to extensive figurative tuition throughout New Zealand
His work is held in many national and international collections.
Exhibitions:
2014 Solo exhibition 15 pieces combining cast glass and cast bronze figurative and conceptual, following a theme of native species in this region on the edge of extinction.
2009 ‘Beauty for Ashes’ – Solo exhibition of contemporary life sized figurative work and paintings
2008 Zohar Gallery Exhibition
2007 Mills Reef Winery – Exhibited life size sculpture
2006 Aotea Centre, Auckland – Group exhibition
2005 Taupo Museum and Gallery - Large solo exhibition of fifty drawings, sculptures & paintings - Taupo Museum & Art Gallery.
2010 Aesthete Gallery began representing Brett and his work has been included in many group shows since then.
Public Commissions:
2011 Completion and installation of Taupo public work sculpture – 7 metre high in Matai and cast bronze.
2006 Commissioned and delivered sculpture to Washington D C, United States.
