European works

European art has been an important part of the New Zealand market since colonisation.  The more prosperous settlers brought their art collections with them and often added to them on trips back to the 'old country'.

Over recent decades as the art market as a whole has grown there has been increased interest in European art alongside the growth in demand for local work.
