Born in 1982 Angus graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts in 2005.

His works are typically raw, bold and operate as fragmented visual allegories. He often employs symbols, words and gestures in order to create an arena for speculative narrative.

After graduation Walker travelled extensively and when in New York Walker was fortunate enough to spend time with his friend and mentor Max Gimblett.

This time spent with Max in Manhattan left a lasting and inspiring impression.

In 2007 Walker claimed one of five prestigious Park Lane Investments Art Awards in Auckland.

Inspirations for Walker are both local and international. The Abstract expressionism of Pollock, Motherwell, Maddox and Gimblett have awakened and enlivened his practice.

The rugged kiwi painting aesthetic of McCahon, Hotere and Claremont have earthed Walkerʼs practice, and provided a centre.

When discussing his work Walker states, “Environment is a key collaborator in all things, not just painting. The materials one starts with, the song on the radio, the age and condition of the brush. We claim ownership of the work, but sometimes its like its painting itself”.

Walkers paintings are included in private collections in Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand
